Think Print

As print continues to evolve with the seasons, the printed shirt has moved from statement single to wardrobe staple for the fashion trailblazers. AMI’s direction of bright poppy florals adds vibrance to the season, while MSGM took the alternative scenic route for a walk down the runway, and Gucci, of course, gave us starstruck statements. Maximalist in design, the printed shirt can be worn both minimally and loud, making it a playful piece. Its versatility can work as easily in the office, paired beneath a suit, as it would on a weekend with denim and sneakers. Take it from us, this season’s print could just be your ultimate go to champion to sleek dressing.

Knit Supreme

It goes without saying that knitwear is synonymous with the cooler months, and for 2020, every designer moved away from the classic to invite innovative creations. The trusty old sweater becomes sleeveless as seen on Prada’s geometric designs, whilst designers such as Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana steered towards masculine and oversized silhouettes that provoke a statement and invite clever layering. Most notably was Ounass newcomer, Casablanca, whose traditional take on the cardigan made us nostalgic with its Moroccan orange motifs and striped varsity cuffs. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your luxe WFH routine or making careful future investment purchases, for when the cooler weather hits, we know knitwear is the only thing that’s going to cut it.

Back to Business

For the FW20 season, we finally saw a hint of a return to the classic tailored gentlemanly approach. Whilst the logo streetwear brands do and will always reign supreme, there was evidence of a finer approach taking place as Gucci and Balenciaga. took center stage. Precision statement tailoring with a vintage nod has awoken new spirits through Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, while shirting reaches new heights with deconstructed elements as seen at Comme des Garçons. A breath of fresh air as fashion is back in business.

Urban Utility

What do you get when you combine sleek workwear with utilitarian outdoor aesthetics? A trend that can be worn off duty, on the street and on the weekend; enter Urban Utility. One of the trickier trends to pull off, we recommend embracing a more refined state-of-mind and exiting a instead of maximalist styling direction. Heron Preston and 1017 ALYX 9SM design for the movement active with their take on utility vests — while Craig Green, and A-Cold-Wall* borrow cargo pockets and oversized details from the ‘90s for a contemporary spin on reincarnated styles. If we’re certain about one thing, it’s that utility will always remain fundamental to our closets.
